Family Reunion
This past weekend we had the Day/Corley Family reunion at my parents lake house. It was a very hot day,but we still had a great turn out.Â
We arrived for the reunion early Saturday morning. We helped set up tables, cover them, cut food, etc. Once Morgan and Logan got there, it was a whole different story. Emma LOVED being with Logan and Morgan. They were three peas in a pod. They played so well together. We have discovered that Logan and Emma are the ones to watch out for. They are now known as “Double Trouble”. Morgan is an innocent by-stander.
After the reunion we took Emma and Morgan out in the boat. This was Emma’s first real boat trip. We went to the island. The whole way to the island she whined and fake cried. It then took about 10 minutes to get her on the back of the boat and into the water. We had success. She actually got in the water. The ride back was much more enjoyable. Emma even sat in Amanda’s lap and didn’t have to have Travis and I both holding her. WAY TO GO EM!

Our Silly Goose…
Here are two videos of Emma, well, being Emma. She is a silly goose and a dare devil. I’m sure she will enjoy these in the future. Emma learns so much right now. The first vido you can tell our family always has music on and around. From the second video you can tell gymnastics is really Emma’s forte!
Adam and Genie’s Wedding
This weekend we drove out to Seguin to see Adam Hopkins and Genie Belcher get married. We made the mistake of telling Emma we were going to a party, so for the 3 hour drive, that is all we heard about. The car ride, was a little rough, but we made it. With Emma refusing to take a nap, it made for an interesting afternoon.Â
The wedding was beautiful and Genie was a sight to see. So radiant and gorgeous. Emma enjoyed the ceremony and the reception. She even made it until 9:30…..OH yeah, with NO NAP!Â
The car ride home was much better thank to Layne and Amanda allowing us to borrow Morgan’s portable DVD player. Ours was having technical difficulties.Â
It was a beautiful weekend and allowed for a lot of family time!Â

Mother’s Day 2008
I had a great Mother’s day with Emma Claire. Emma was playing in the gameroom entertaining herself, when I hear the sound of her running into see me. With a huge smile on her face, she said, “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY”. It was great and just melted my heart!Â
The day started out with breakfast at Panera with Aunt Shelby. The weather was wonderful and we enjoyed our muffin, cinnamon roll and juice. After breakfast, we all headed over to Lowe’s to exchange some air vents for the master bedroom. We were not successful, since Lennar has such a weird size air vent.
Emma and I then returned home for an enjoyable morning as the two of us (or 3 counting Darby). We played, hung curtains, and hung out. After naptime, Emma and I walked down to the park to play before Nana, Poppy, and Nanny came over for dinner. It was a great Mother’s Day!Â

Mother Daughter Tea
Today at AUMC was the Mother-Daughter tea. Emma was asked a month ago to model in the show. I was very hesitant on how Emma would do, since she is a little iffy in new situation. Emma had a blast. She played with the other girls there and acted like she had known them her whole life. It was so cute to see how they took care of her.Â
During the fashion show, Emma did a great job walking to the stage and modeling her dress. I was so proud of her. It was a great afternoon.

Best Words Ever
On Wednesday, I was driving Emma to Nana and Poppy’s house for the day. We were recapping the night before and what we did at gymnastics. We were talking about her forward roll of the beam, her repeated pull over on the uneven bars, her bear crawl on the parrallel bars, bells, balls, and her friends. As this conversation was going on I was thinking about my women’s retreat and how a mom was told by her son that she never said how proud she was of him…..So with this in mind, I decided to tell Emma, and mean it, how proud I was of her. Here is our conversation:
Mommy: “I’m so proud of you and what you did at gymnastics. You really did good on the bars, beam, floor and staying with Ms. Patti.”
Emma:Â “Thank you mommy”
Mommy:Â “Thank you Emma for being my daughter.”
a few minutes pass…….
Emma:Â “I love you too Mommy!”
That brought tears to my eyes. Just telling her I was proud of her brought on a heartfelt I love you Mommy. I realized again how special Emma is and how lucky I am to have her as a daughter. I will treasure moments like this forever and replay them in my mind during those difficult times. I’m so lucky to be her mom!
