Strep Throat Again
This morning Travis and I got an email from Candace saying Emma was running a fever of 101.3. She gave her Tylenol and was going to keep us posted. An hour later her temperature was 100.6. Not much of a difference.Â
I get a call from Candace at 2:00 saying she only took an hour nap, and her fever was up to 101.7. She wanted to know what we wanted her to do. I said, I was on my way and called the doctor.
By 3:45 we were at Dr. Nandwani’s office. I told the doctor, that I’m sure it was nothing, but the last time her temp wouldn’t go down she had strep and I wanted to be safe than sorry. Especially since it was a Friday afternoon.
I WAS RIGHT! The strep test came back positive. I”m learning to trust my mother’s intuition. Even the doctor said I was right. We now have a new antibiotic, so we will see how it goes. Hopefully, this time it won’t end with an allergic reaction.
I’ll keep you posted!
Soon Paci Free…Hopefully….Try #1
We have been trying to give Emma her paci less and less. It has been working until recently. All of a sudden she wanted it all of the time. On Monday, I decided to poke some holes in her paci with a needle to see if that would make a difference. It didn’t. So tonight I placed a small slit the side with a knife. This way it didn’t look different, but would hopefully, suck differently. It worked. All of a sudden, she knew paci had an owee. I asked her if she wanted to give her paci’s to babies that didn’t have any. She said yes. I told her this weekend we would mail her paci’s to the babies. She wanted to package them immediately and take them to the mailbox. Hopefully, with the slit and talking about donating them, this will make Emma feel like it is her idea to get rid of the paci’s.
Cross your fingers that it works!
**Update** This didn’t happen as scheduled because of Emma’s perfect timing of getting strep!
Curly Hair
Aunt Lindsey suggested yesterday at church that I should try to put gel in Emma’s hair to see how it does. This morning, since we were being lazy and had no agenda, I decided to try it. Below are Emma’s pictures of her curly hair. She obviously, doesn’t get it from her mother!

Big Girl Meals
We have started eating dinner as a family. This requires much patience on Emma’s end, since she is use to eating between 5:30 and 6. We are now eating dinner between 6:30-7. This way we can all 3 sit at the table together and talk. This is also a better opportunity for Emma to see mommy and daddy eating food and for her to eat the same thing. We of course, have to sprinkle a little cheese on everything in order for her to try it.
Tonight Travis was late, so Emma and I ate our chicken breasts stuffed with broccoli and cheese, and orzo. Below is a link of a video of Emma eating the “big girl” meal. Take note: the sound Emma is making is something she has done since she started eating table foods. We just can’t seem to get it on camera. I finally got it on the digital camera, so I had to share. Please don’t laugh too loud. This happens at EVERY meal and is normally VERY loud!

22 Months Old
Emma is now 22 months old. I can’t believe she will be 2 soon. Emma knows so much. She is speaking in two and three word sentences. Her vocabulary is also unbelieveable. She knows so much. If you ask Emma where a certain color is, she will point to the color. She knows; purple, red, orange, yellow, green, brown, black, white, pink, blue and yellow. She can also occasionally tell you the color when you point to it.Â
Em is still working on getting her 4 eye teeth. She has the center four on top and bottom and her 1 year molars. We are still waiting on the rest.
Emma has also excelled in gymnastics. She loves the bars, beam, doing flips, walking like a bear, jumping, playing instruments and more. She is so awesome.
We are also in full swing of planning Emma’s birthday party. We are all excited for the day to arrive. It will be fun for young and old!

Elmo Live
For Christmas, Travis bought Emma tickets to see Elmo live. This morning we went to Reliant Arena to see the show. It was great. Our seats were in the middle of the floor seven rows from the front. The seats were great! Emma really enjoyed herself. She loved seeing Elmo, Abby, Zoe, Cookie, Bert, Ernie, and everyone.Â

Week Two of the Little Gym
Emma was very excited to go back to gym this week. She was eager to see Ms. Patti, play with balls, and bubbles. We started with a warm up of walking, running, jumping, hitting sticks (which she loved, like Poppy’s drums). Emma was even so comfortable, she would go up to the teacher by herself or go away from me.
Emma was able to walk on the balance beam with no help. She held her airplane arms and balanced on her own. She carefully jumped off the end and did her finish. Arms up with a tada! She also swang on the bar, touched her toes and flipped over the bar. She was able to support herself with her arms. I was so proud. We did flips on the cheese mat, ran under tunnels, and jumped off of the vault. Emma also remembered the balls and bubbles come at the end. We practiced sitting on the balls, bouncing them, kicking them, etc. We then did a lot of follow the leader. She really enjoyed the class. I’m really glad we decided to enroll her in this. I think it was a great idea! I wouldn’t mind if she became a little gymnast. She will be an excellent one!Â
The Little Gym
We have decided to enroll Emma into a class to meet other children and to learn some cordination and some techniques. We decided to enroll her in a place called The Little Gym. Em and I tried it last Tuesday night to see if we would like it. SHE LOVED IT. We ran, jumped, walked on the balance beam, rolled on a mat, learned to jump off the vault, touch our toes to the bar, swing on a bar, throw balls, had bubbles blown on her body parts and so much more. I have decided to enroll Emma in the class. We will now go every Tuesday night at 6:30 until mid June. It is a workout for Emma and myself!
