A little stomach bug
Last night Emma decided that she wanted to have a little stomach issue. About 7:30, she decided to throw up while eating dinner. Then of couse, 30 minutes later she did it again. We thought maybe this was the end of it, since she was acting normal inbetween vomit spells. NOPE, 4 hours later and a new set of sheets she came back with two more spells of vomiting. Needless to say, Emma slept with Travis and I the remainder of the night. So I didn’t sleep, but she did. Hopefully, we are in the clear and tonight will be much better. We will be skipping school tomorrow to be on the safe side.
WHAT ON EARTH
For the past couple of nights, Emma has put up a fight at bed time. She will refuse to say night night, she will scream, hold her breath and freak out for what seems like hours….probably 10 minutes. I don’t know what is up. We just wait it out and she stops, but I hate it. I liked it when she would wave night night to everyone and would go down with no problem. UGH. I hope she is out of this stage quickly!
18 Month Appointment
Today Emma had her 18 month check up with the doctor. Here are her stats, the doctor said she is tall and skinny:
weight – 22.5 pounds (25%)
height – 32.5 inches (75%)
She also had what I felt like was an IQ test. Dr. Nandwani asked how many words she knew, which he was suprised at. He said the number of words Emma can say and understand is equal to a 2 year old. He also asked her to point to a picture of a cat, dog and bird. She pointed to the cat with no problem. He also wanted to see if she could walk up the stairs, run, stack blocks, throw a ball overhand, and kick a ball. She passed with flying colors and was actually above average.
Dr. Nandwani then did Emma’s exam. She didn’t like him listening to her chest or heart. He checked her ears and noticed she has fluid in both ears. She also was really congested and he didn’t like that at all. He said she probably had allergies. She is now to have Claritin everyday with Saline drops for her nose. After the exam, Emma received 3 shots – HEP A, DPT, and a flu shot. Which of course she cried through, but was fine once the nurse let go of her.
Emma has to go back in one month for her other flu shot, then back for a well exam in 6 months. Hopefully, we won’t have to go back before then….
Pumpkin Patch
Today Travis, Emma and I went to the pumpkin patch to enjoy the beautiful weather. Emma had a great time. We were going to do a hayride and train, but decided not to do it. We also forgot the sunscreen, so we didn’t stay long. Emma didn’t want to leave. We will have to go again next time.

18 Months Old

People use to ask if I believed in love at first sight. If you asked me that 18 months ago the answer was no. Then Emma was born and now the answer is yes. It is amazing how you love a child so much. I can’t believe Emma Claire is 18 months old. It still seems like yesterday when she was born. Emma is no longer in the baby stage. I look at her often and think how she is such a big girl and miss her being a small baby. Then I am quickly reminded of how much she can do and realize that I love her so much and would never go back to the baby stage. Below are some things Emma can do or likes to do:
1. Emma talks constantly and says tons of words.
2. She holds her hands out and says “GEEZ”
3. Emma knows where several body parts are.
4. Emma tee teed in the potty once.
5. She LOVES to cook
6. Emma can walk up and down the stairs
7. Travis taught Emma how to run in place. It is so cute!
8. Emma is trying to jump
9. Loves on Darby and will “play/fight” with her
10. Reads books
11. Emma likes to show you what she wants
12. Says Hi and Bye with a wave to everyone she sees
13. Can point out a dog, cat, bird, butterfly, fish, duck, lamb when asked where they are
14. Can put together puzzles of animals
15. Can say and understand between 50-60 words
16. Can stack 8 blocks on top of each other
I’m sure there is so much more. I will update the list when I come up with more.
