Em’s First Day

Today was Emma Claire’s first day of Mother’s Day Out.  Emma slept until 8:00.  We got up, ate, dressed and left the house.  When we arrived at the church Emma was in a great mood.  She smiled as she walked into the room.  She was happy and not fussy at all.  Ms. Jeannie got down on Emma’s level and played with a toy.  She asked Emma to join in.  Emma smiled at me.  I took that as my sign to leave.  I gave her a kiss and walked out the door….as she cried.
I assumed she was doing fine because I had not heard from the church.  Well, that was the wrong thought.  I got a phone call at 1:00 saying Emma had been crying all day, had not eaten a thing and took 30 minutes to get down for a nap.  I of course freaked out.  I called Candace and she went to pick Emma up an hour early.
Hopefully, next week will be much better.  She will continue to go because we can’t keep her home forever.  She needs to meet new kiddos and have friends.
Below is a picture of Emma on her first day of school.  In my family we have a tradition of taking our first day of school pictures infront of the pie safe.  I had to do the same with Emma.

Nana Pudding

At almost every family gathering my grandmother, Granny makes Banana Pudding.  My dad and Travis decided to give Emma her first taste of nana pudding.  Emma LOVED it.

It has been a very long time since we have taken a family photo of my family.  We did on Memorial Day, so we could give my grandmother a picture for mother’s day.  Here is my family with my parents, sister, brother, in-laws, niece, and nephew.

Roseola

Just like both grandmothers thought, Emma has roseola.  She had the high fever for two days and now the rash has broken out all over her body.  Emma is very cranky and tired today.  Hopefully, she will feel better soon.  I have decided that she will not be attending school tomorrow.  :(   The first picture is just Emma looking miserable.  The second is a picture of her rash.  I know it is a bit blurred, but it is the best I can get.

After Emma’s doctors appointment we all figured Emma would have a tough night.  I didn’t think we would have the excitment that we really had.

About midnight, Emma started crying.  Travis went and gave her the paci.  She calmed down and fell asleep.  About 2 am, I woke up to go check on her.  I felt her and it was like touching fire.  I took her temperature in both ears.  One ear was 105.1, the other was 104.5.  I FREAKED out.  I woke Travis up and asked him what to do.  Travis said it was probably because she was sleeping…….I wasn’t comfortable with that answer, so I woke up my mom.  She wanted to put Emma in the bath, but we didn’t want to completely wake her up.  After Travis actually woke up, he was thinking about routes to the hospital.
After giving Emma some medicine and letting her rest on my chest, her fever started going down.  She slept until 6:30.

It is now Sunday and she has been fever free for 24 hours.  YEAH!  Hopefully, she will continue to be free of fever.

What a day

This morning, Emma woke up at her normal time.  My mom was holding her and made the comment that she felt warm.  I decided to take her temperature to be on the safe side.  She had a high fever of 101.9.  We gave Emma so tylenol to help lower the temperature.  This was so out of the ordinary, that I decided to call the doctor.  They wanted her to come in so they could check her ears and throat.  We were able to get an appointment for 9:45.  Two hours after getting tylenol, her fever was still at 100.3.

Upon arriving at the doctors office, Dr. Nandwani discovered there was nothing wrong with her ears or throat.  Since it was a long weekend, he wanted to get a urine sample and a blood sample.  WOW.  If I only knew ahead of time what that meant.  They placed a bag on Emma.  This was so tramatic and horrible.  Since Emma has been refusing liquids all day, it took 2 hours to get the urine sample.  The whole time Emma was miserable.  She would cry everytime you moved her.  Once we had the sample they were able to analyze it.  They noticed there was some issues with the analisis, so they had to manually examine in.  They almost had to catheritize Emma to get a better sample, but thank goodness they didn’t.
Dr. Nandwani thinks Emma has a viral infection and said she could run fever for 5-7 days.  Hopefully, it goes down soon.  This was very tramatic.

Mother’s Day Out

On Tuesday, May 29th, Emma Claire will go to Mother’s Day Out for the first time.  I know she needs to go for social interaction, but I am so scared and sad.  I’m so afraid she will cry will I leave.  I know she will and I know she will get over it, but I don’t like the idea of it.   I am going to have to be so busy on Tuesday just to get my mind off of her crying…..I’ll let you know how it goes.

Mother’s Day

This year was my second mother’s day.  It was a wonderful/typical day.  I set my alarm clock early, so I could shower and get dressed before Emma Claire woke up…didn’t happen, she woke up early.  So I showered with her talking in her bed.  After getting some what ready (make up on), I went and got Emma.  She was so excited to see me, but reluctant to get out of bed (this is everyday).  After pulling her out of the bed, we went downstairs to eat breakfast.  Now, that we had 30 minuted before church, I still had to blow dry my hair, get myself and Emma dress.  Emma decided to be EXTRA clingy.  She would stand in front of me and bang on my legs until I picked her up.  I sat there and thought…Not on mother’s day.

After getting dressed, we headed to church.  Nothing eventful happened here.  For lunch the guys had made reservations at Buca de Beppo.  Emma tried sitting in a big girl booster seat in between Travis and I on the bench, but she was to wiggly and we were nervous.  So we regressed back to the highchair at the end of the table.  We ordered her spaghetti and meatball.  Emma didn’t care for the meatball to much, but LOVED the spaghetti.  She covered her face with it, slurped the noodles and got it all over herself.  It was so cute.

The rest of the day was just hanging out with my wonderful husband and baby.  It was great.  Travis even got me a new camera that is much quicker so I would stop complaining about missing an opportunity.  It was a great day!
Pics to be posted soon…

13 Months Old

Today Emma turned 13 months old.  It is so amazing how much she has grown, learned and has accomplished in the past 13 months.  Emma is a full blown walker.  I can’t remember the last time I saw Emma crawl more than 1 foot.  She has discovered she can move faster walking.  Emma can also keep her balance when she is walking over rough services.
Here are 13 things Emma likes to do for her 13 month birthday:
1.  Be outside
2.  Swing
3.  Feed herself using a fork
4.  Take a bath
5.  TALK
6.  Play with any phone-cell or cordless.  She will put it up to her ear and blab away
7.  Eat chicken or turkey sticks
8.  Play chase
9.  Go shopping
10.  Eat cheese
11.  Drink water from an Ozarka water bottle
12.  Play with her Poppy’s name badge
13.  Sleep at night (Emma has been a great sleeper at night.  We hardly ever hear her.  IT’S GREAT!)

I can’t wait to see what this next month holds.  Until then…

On April 26th, Poppy turned 50 years old.  Since he was in London and Jordan, we had a surprise party for him on May 5th.  It was a lot of fun.  Nana got a shirt made for Emma that said, “My poppy is a rock star.”  It was so cute.
