We believe Emma is finally getting her top teeth.  Her gums are feeling different.  She is also a different child every 30 seconds.  Happy, sad, mad, happy, sad, mad.  She has also been refusing food.  It is so hard to get her to eat.  We are trying everything we can to get something in her.  Tonight we even put cereal in her bottle and she wouldn’t put the bottle in her mouth.  After origel and tylenol, she finally fell asleep after throwing several fits….WOW what a night!

A trip to the Lake

On Friday morning, Travis called and said he was headed home with the stomach bug.  He told me to pack up Emma and head out of town.  So we did.  We jumped in the car and headed to Lake Livingston (the actual lake and not our new street).

Emma had a great time hanging out with Morgan.  They got in a couple of agruments over things, but did a good job sharing for the most part.  One thing Emma really enjoyed and did most of the weekend was swing.  She has been so afraid of swinging, but once she saw Morgan doing it, she had to try.  It was pretty funny to watch her pitch a fit when we took her out of the swing.

Emma and Morgan also played with bubbles.  They liked it when Papa used the battery operated one the best.  Cheney even went crazy catching the bubbles.   Emma even helped Grandmother cook and put dishes in the dishwasher.  We are teaching her right!

It was a nice long weekend of doing nothing.  At least we had a few days of rest before going back to school. (more pics are under Emma’s Photos, 11 months)

First Steps

On the afternoon of March 14th, Emma Claire took three steps by herself.  We were practicing standing by ourselves, which she did for several minutes, then she walked to me to fall down.  WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trip to Kemah

Today Nana, Nanny, Mommy and Emma headed out to Kemah to enjoy the beautiful day.  After watching the weather and taking note that it was going to be 80 degrees, I dressed Emma in an adorable new shorts outfit.  Needless to say it wasn’t so warm.  Emma LOVED being outside.  We walked along the boardwalk and went to the shops.  We ate lunch at Cadillac Mexican (yes, I know we were on the gulf and ate Mexican and not seafood).  Then we fed the ducks and watched all of the interesting things….  Nanny, Nana and Emma even took a walk next to the water.  It was neat to watch Emma walking with them.

Check out the pics under Emma’s photos 11 months.

WOW!  I think this is going to be the first challenging thing we have gone through with Emma.  I never thought she was attached to her bottle, but I guess I was wrong.  This morning was the first time I tried the formula in the sippy cup.  We struggled for about five minutes.  Then she started drinking.  I though oh good this is going to work.  Then she stopped.  Everytime I offered the sippy of formula she slapped it out of my hands.  We have tried 3-4 different kinds of sippy cups, nuby, playtex, and gerber transitions.  I think the Gerber one is the best, but we shall see.  I’m not giving up.  In Dr. Nandwani’s words “Your will is stronger than hers!”  I will win!  (hopefully)

If anyone has any helpful suggestions, please post a comment and let me know!  I need the help.

Today Emma and I went over to play with Ephram and visit Hafida (a girl I work with).  It was so much fun to watch Ephram and Emma interact.  The minute we walked in the door, Emma reached out to Ephram.  We went into the living room and started playing with Ephram’s toys.  It was amazing to see how many toys they had alike.  Hafida and I figured out that Emma and Ephram and so much alike.  We also realized how much alike we are.  Emma and Ephram played with all of Ephram’s toys.  They even took a snack break.  It was a fun day.  On the way home, Emma crashed in ten minutes.  She was so exhausted for the excitement of playing with her new boyfriend.  (They have actully been boyfriend/girlfriend forever, but just met for the first time!)  Hafida and I have decided that we will continue to have play dates forever.  Even after we move!  :)

Daylight Savings

WOW!  I never thought about how much daylight savings time would mess up Emma’s schedule.  Saturday night she went to bed at 9:15 and slept until 8:30 the next morning.  Then she took 2 LONG naps during the day.  I was prepared for her to have a bad night after sleeping so much during the day.  She didn’t.  She went to sleep at 9:15 again (her normal bedtime was 8:00-8:15) and slept until 8:30 this morning.  I’m so shocked.  I promise Nana, I’m not getting her off schedule on purpose.  This time change has her all messed up.

11 Months Old

On Saturday, March 10th, Emma Claire turned 11 months old.  I can’t believe in a month she will be a year old.  WOW!

Emma is doing so much.  She is the fastest crawler I have ever seen.  She laughs when you tell her no and continues to do the task you don’t want her to do.  She has gotten to be a better eater.  She is in a stage where she doesn’t want a bottle or sippy cup.  We are trying to figure out the best way to transition from bottle to sippy and from formula to whole milk…A new challenge.  Emma is also starting to explore with table food.  She LOVES cheerios, string cheese, pizza crust, apples, bagels, grapes, and bananas.  We continue to give her pieces of what we are eating, but she isn’t sure about a lot of things.

Emma still only has two teeth.  They came in with no problems, so we are very lucky for that.  Emma Claire still talks up a storm and screams when she is happy.   Emma is also starting to stand alone for longer periods of time (like 30 seconds).  As long as she doesn’t realize she is doing it, she is fine.

More of Emma’s 11 month pictures are posted under Emma’s Photos, 11 months old.

Until next time.  We are off to the park.!  :)
