1st Halloween

For Emma’s first halloween she was a ladybug.  She was so cute in her costume.  We did not go trick or treating because we didn’t need any more candy.  We got dressed up to take some pictures and play in our costume.  Emma actually enjoyed having the hat on.  I thought she would have hated it, but she didn’t.   After all of the excitement of taking pictures, Emma crashed on the floor in the living room.  She was the cutest ladybug I’ve every seen!

Barrs Family Dinner

On Sunday, October 29th,  Travis, Emma, Darby and myself headed over for family dinner at the Barrs house.  Darby enjoyed swimming in the pool.  Emma actually let Nanny hold her as they looked through the newspaper and watched Darby swim.  After trying real squash, Emma took a nap and then we played some more.  She even tried out being a nun.  Sister Emma didn’t keep her habit on for long though.  It was a fun day seeing what Emma does on a normal day at Nana’s.

On Sunday, October 22nd, we finally celebrated mom, Travis’ and Pop’s birthdays.  Layne, Amanda, Morgan, Granny, Pop, Grandmother, Papa, Travis, Emma and I were all there.  All we were missing was Lindsey and Matt.  Emma and Morgan had a good time talking to one another and sharing toys.  Emma also enjoyed crying at everyone when they would hold her.  Hopefully, one day she will go to people with more ease.  One of Morgan’s favorite things to do is to ride in a wagon.  We let Emma join her right before we left.  They were to sure at first, but then started to enjoy sitting together.  Emma also enjoyed wearing her jacket for the first time with the cool weather.

The other day, I decided it was so pretty we would take some pictures outside.  Emma really liked to pick the grass and watch Darby run around.  She loves laughing at her sister run all over the backyard.

Videos

Here are two videos of Emma.  The first is of her laughing at Darby.  The second is some of her new favorite noises she is always making.  *Notice the collection of spit on her shirt from the 30 minutes of making noises.*

6 month check up

Today we took Emma to see a new doctor for her 6 month check up.  Instead of seeing Dr. Turner, we saw Dr. Nandwani.  Our new favorite doctor.  He was very detailed in examining Emma.  He first started the appointment by checking her developmental milestones; sitting (check), transferring objects from hand to hand (check), picking up small objects from the table (check), watching objects fall from above (check).  He said she was right on track or a little above where she should be.

Emma’s weight, height, and head size are all below average.  Not a lot below, but still below.  She is now weighing 15 pounds 6 oz.  She is 26 inches long.  She is in the 50% of height and 40% in weight.

Dr. Nandwani also went though how to baby proof the house and informed us it was time to do that.  He also went back over the feeding schedule and when and how to introduce solids.  He was very informative.  It is so nice to have someone tell you exactly what to do, so you don’t have to guess and hope you are doing it right.

Emma received 3 shots this time.  Including the flu shot.  We will have to go back in November to get the next dose.  We will see how she handles the reaction.  Dr. Nandwani did not see any teeth coming in, but I know they will make there appearance soon.

After her appointment we went to Babies R Us to buy a toy for being such a good girl.  She is so fun to take shopping and let her pick out her own things.
