First haircut
Tonight Emma Claire had her first haircut. She had several pieces of hair that were longer than the rest in the back and they were getting tangled together. Travis and I decided to trim the back of her hair. I held Emma while Travis cut her hair. She did really good. Travis did a great job cutting as well. Below you will see the before and after pictures of Emma’s hair. I don’t know many 4 month olds that receive haircuts, but Emma is now one of them. We have the whole process recorded on the video camera as well. One day she will probably kill us for having everything so well documented.Â

Roll Over *Back to Tummy*
Today at 4:30, Emma rolled over from her back to her stomach. She has been working on this for about a week. Each day she would get farther and farther. Today was finally the day. She worked at it getting closer each time. Nana said she couldn’t figure out how to get her arm out from under her. Right when I walked in the door from work, she flipped over. She did it so fast, we couldn’t believe our eyes.Â
After rolling over about 6 times, Emma was laying on her tummy moving her arms and legs. The next thing I know, she is moving her legs under her body. She had her knees under herself. I thought she was about to crawl away. I was so shocked.Â
It is amazing how much she changes each day. Before we know it she will be all grown up. I wish she would slow down a little bit. Â
Swimming
This weekend we went over to Nana and Grandpa’s to go swimming. Emma was dressed in her new swimming bottoms and hat. She was so cute. Once Travis and Grandpa had the video cameras and Nana had the digital we were ready to try this out. Emma and I get in the water. At first her reaction is like, “huh”, then she starts the I don’t like this cry. We try for a couple of minutes, but no luck. I then decide to take her out. After we sit by the pool for a couple of minutes with out feet in the water, I decide to try again. This time she likes it. I even let her float up so she can kick her legs. She seemed to really enjoy it. Darby did not like Emma in the pool. She was wanting to jump in and save Emma the whole time. We all had a great time. The five minutes of swimming made Emma very hungry and tired. We got out, put her swim robe on and headed up to take a bath. It was a fun day.

Just down right cute
I took some pictures of Emma Claire this morning. I think this outfit is so cute on her. I’ve had it in her closet for 3 months because it hasn’t fit, even though it is a 0-3 month. She is getting so big. She is trying very hard to roll over from her back to her tummy. She can get all the way on her side, but then can’t figure out the arms. I bet in a couple of weeks she will have it figured out.

Yummy Cereal
On Monday, August 14th, we decided to start cereal in the evening. We are just trying it one time a day until she gets use to the whole process.
The first spoonful, Emma was eager to try…until she actually tasted it. It then came pouring down her chin. This was the process for about two days.Â
On Wednesday I was going to try again for the third day in a row. I was not going to give up. To my surprise, she actually took it. She ate 1/2 of her bowl full. I was so shocked. I had to get the video camera in the middle of her meal. I wanted to record it so Travis could watch his daughter eat cereal for the first time.Â
It is so much fun to feed her. Her facial expressions are priceless. She is getting more fun everyday. I try to live everyday to the max.Â

4 months old
On August 10th, Emma turned 4 months old. I can’t believe how fast she is growing up. It is so amazing to see how much she can do and think back to the day when she just layed there.Â
Emma loves to do many things. She is constantly talking. She will talk to people, animals, flowers, anything. She is also occasionally rolling over from her tummy to her back. She is trying very hard to roll from her back to her tummy. She will get all the way on her side and then fall backwards. She is working hard at it. Emma also has great head control. You can pull her to a sitting position from laying down and she holds her head the whole way. She is also trying to sit up, if you hold her at the right angle. She lifts her head like she is leaning forward. She loves sitting in her Bumbo seat during the day. There are several times where she would rather sit in your lap than lay down. Emma Claire also laughs out loud a lot. Travis acts like she is a rocket blasting off from his lap and she just laughs out loud. She also knows how to throw a fit when she doesn’t get what she wants. Em is now placing everything in her mouth. Her fingers are in there all of the time. We don’t feel any teeth yet, but I have a feeling they are trying to surface. I know it is a long process, so we are patient.

1st day with Nana
Today was my first day back to work at Willow Creek. Emma was able to spend the whole day with Nana. She did a lot of talking, tummy time, sitting in her Bumbo, eating and taking naps. I think they are both going to enjoy the time with one another!

Bathtime
Emma use to hate taking baths in her big bathtub. So for a couple of months we had to do a bath in the sink. This was a very difficult task because you have to hold her with one hand and rinse her with the other.Â
Nana let us borrow her tub for a couple of days to see if Emma like it. SHE LOVED IT!! We had to go out and buy one of our own. Here is a picture of her getting a bath and afterwards!

4 month appointment
On August 4th, Emma went to see Dr. Turner for her 4 month check up. While we were waiting for the doctor Emma was in a great mood. Laying on the table in her diaper just talking and laughing away. Once Dr. Turner walked in, she got very serious and a little cranky. She wasn’t in a mood to be messed with. She wanted to be left alone!Â
She weighs 12 pounds 6 ounces (25th percentile). She is right on track with her weight gain. She is 24 1/4 inches long (50th percentile). Dr. Turner says she is going to be a petite little girl. Everything checked out perfectly. She is able to start solid foods, cereal, veggies, etc. We are going to wait a week to see how her tummy issues are before we get started on something new. We will video to document the wonderful event. We will probably start that challenge next weekend, so keep watching for a video.
After leaving the doctors office, we had to run by Babies R Us to get a toy since we got shots. She picked out a blanket with chewable corners. Emma loves to hold onto blankets and eat them, so it is perfect!

WOW, a highchair
This week I set up Emma’s highchair because I knew we would be starting cereal and other foods soon. Emm watch closely to make sure I was putting her chair together correctly. After we were all finished, I set Emma in to see how she liked/disliked it. She LOVED it. She sat there like she was the queen bee. Even through some cranky spells, I have sat her in it and she just sits and relaxes. Hopefully, she will enjoy it when it is meal time.
